Heart and Vascular Specialists from Baylor Scott & White, Cleveland Clinic Host Educational Conference on the Future of Cardiovascular Care

First jointly hosted program by the affiliated health systems covers trends in heart care

Health care providers are invited to hear the  latest news and upcoming trends in heart care from Baylor Scott & White Health and Cleveland Clinic heart and vascular specialists on November 20 and 21 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.

The program, Contemporary Management of Cardiovascular Disease, is the first of its kind for the affiliated health systems. It will cover management of common cardiovascular conditions along with critical updates and recommendations for incorporating them into physician practices.

The conference is intended for physicians providing adult primary care, cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons and other health care professionals, including nurse practitioners and physician assistants, who care for patients with cardiovascular disease. Session topics will include:

  • Coronary artery disease
  • Management and decision making for advanced heart failure
  • Navigating health care reform in your physician practice
  • Aortic stenosis
  • SB thoracic aortic disease
  • Electrophysiology
  • Mitral valve disease

"Best practices shared through this conference, made possible by the alliance between Baylor Scott & White and Cleveland Clinic, will ultimately help improve care for thousands of Texans battling a heart condition," said Michael Mack, M.D., chair of cardiovascular service line at Baylor Scott & White Health. Mack is a course director along with David Brown, M.D., medical director of interventional cardiology and co-medical director of the Cardiovascular Research & Structural Heart Program at The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano**, as well as Lars G. Svensson, M.D., Ph.D., the chairman of Cleveland Clinic’s Heart and Vascular Institute.

In 2014, Baylor Scott & White announced the alliance with Cleveland Clinic's Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute and three hospitals: Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital**, Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, and The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano**. Cleveland Clinic and the three Baylor Scott & White Health hospitals share best practices, coordinate care and develop programs to improve quality and patient safety.
