"The Hope Murals Project" at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas

Baylor Dallas Chosen for Nation-Wide Art Project Honoring Those Affected by Cancer

The Cancer Center at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas was chosen as the sixth stop on The Hope Murals Project's 10-city tour, and the only location in Texas. The tour celebrates a decade of the Lilly Oncology On Canvas Art Competition, which has shared more than 4,100 cancer journeys through art and narrative.

Cancer survivors, their friends and families, health care providers and other members of the community were invited to transform a beautiful piece of art into a giant Hope Mural—a permanent show of support in each city for those touched by cancer.

Local ABC Affiliate, WFAA-TV, broadcast live from the event throughout the day sharing the stories of many North Texans who have been touched by cancer. The mural took 2 days to complete using more than 60 paintbrushes and up to 10 gallons of paint. After completion, the large mural was permanently installed at the Dallas Opera Rehearsal Production Center.
