Baylor Scott & White Researchers Come to Austin for National Liver Conference

Symposium combines with Baylor's Hepatology Roundup

The annual Baylor Scott & White Hepatology Roundup has combined with the National Liver Conference this year for a single, liver-focused symposium Sept. 19 at the Hilton Austin Hotel at 500 E. 4th St., Austin, Texas.

The Ninth Annual National Liver Conference, which brings together hospitalists and experts in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology, offers three learning tracks: Advanced Hepatology, General Gastroenterology, and Nurse and Health Care Extenders.

Five Baylor Scott & White researchers will be speaking at the conference in each of the three tracks. National Liver Conference program directors Jacqueline O'Leary, MD, MPH, and Dawn M. Sears, MD, are respectively a panelist and a guest speaker at the symposium. Sumeet Asrani, MD, Robert Perrillo, MD, and James Trotter, MD, also will speak at the day-long conference. Drs. O'Leary, Asrani, Perrillo and Trotter are providers at Liver Consultants of Texas, a Baylor-Health Texas affiliate, and specialize in gastroenterology or hepatology. Dr. Sears is an appointed gastroenterologist at Scott & White Healthcare, which is now part of Baylor Scott & White.

The conference will feature other world-class speakers who will discuss new hepatitis C therapies, as well as new developments in managing and treating liver disease.

The National Liver Conference also is partnering with the Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy (TSGE) for this year's conference. The TSGE will have its 39th Annual Texas Program Sept. 19-21 at the Hilton Austin Hotel in an effort to make travel and attendance more convenient for practitioners interested in gastroenterology and hepatology.
