Baylor Scott & White Health Names Lavone Arthur Chief Integration Officer

LaVone Arthur has been appointed chief integration officer for Baylor Scott & White Health, the newly formed parent company for the combined health systems of Scott & White Healthcare and Baylor Health Care System, which brings together $8.3 billion in assets and 34,000 employees based in different geographic regions of Texas.

Arthur, who has been with Baylor since 1984, is responsible for coordinating activities related to the integration of the two health care systems, including providing project leadership and direction in developing and executing integration strategies. She also is responsible for business development, coordinating all aspects of new business transactions and joint venture arrangements.

"When we made the decision to combine our two organizations, we knew that it was going to be a massive, extremely complex undertaking," says Arthur. "Being asked to lead the integration effort is the biggest honor of my career, and also the most important job I've had to date, since millions of Texans are depending on us to seamlessly deliver quality health care."

Arthur began her career at Baylor nearly three decades ago as a management engineer before moving into the organization's finance department. She worked her way up to various leadership roles, most recently serving as vice president of financial analysis and decision support services responsible for strategic financial and capital planning, as well as financial and operational analysis of all Baylor business units.

In addition to her career at Baylor, Arthur has held leadership positions in several industry and community organizations. She is actively involved in community service and served as governor of District Nine for Altrusa International, Inc. – a not-for-profit organization that strives to make local communities better through leadership, partnership and service – from 2011 to 2013. Earlier this year, Arthur was selected as a member of the prestigious Dallas Regional Chamber Leadership Dallas Class of 2014. Leadership Dallas is a 10-month educational program that exposes participants to the critical issues facing the community and challenges them to apply their talents towards these issues.

"Access to affordable, quality health care is a big challenge, especially in Texas," says Arthur. "The new Baylor Scott & White Health will capitalize on our strengths and take advantage of efficiencies, which I believe can go a long way to solving that problem."
