Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth began a $23 million renovation and expansion of its emergency department today to better meet the growing health care needs of Fort Worth and the surrounding communities.
Completion of the 36,300-square-foot facility, which will more than double the size of the existing emergency department, is planned for late spring 2017. The new facility will include two trauma treatment rooms, 32 treatment rooms and four triage rooms. A new imaging area will include a computed tomography scanner, X-ray room and ultrasound exam room.
"Our current emergency department was designed to accommodate an average of 40,000 patients per year," said Timothy Jones, MD, medical director of the emergency department at Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth. "This expansion allows us to grow with the thriving Fort Worth community and continue our mission of providing quality care for patients."
Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth cared for 46,584 patients in its 25-bed emergency department last year. It's a designated Advanced Level III Trauma Facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services, meaning emergency medicine physicians and nurses undergo trauma-specific continuing education and maintain specialized certification in trauma and resuscitation. Level III Trauma Centers have demonstrated the ability to provide prompt assessment, resuscitation, surgery, intensive care and stabilization of injured patients and emergency operations.
Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth also holds Chest Pain Center v5 Accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers and Advanced Primary Stroke Designation from The Joint Commission, recognizing its quality care for patients experiencing heart attack and stroke.
