Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine marked the start of a new era in patient care on November 9 with a groundbreaking and blessing for its $100.5 million patient tower and expansion. More than 150 people attended the event to celebrate the hospital’s legacy of care plus commemorate Baylor Grapevine’s 30th year anniversary within Baylor Health Care System.
In June, the growing regional hospital announced plans to add 48 patient beds (with space for 60 additional beds), nine emergency department rooms and four additional operating suites. It will also enhance specialty areas such as cardiovascular services, women services and the Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The new tower will add more than 165,000 square feet to the nearly 400,00 existing square footage of the hospital and increase the number of licensed patient beds to 324—making it the third largest hospital in Baylor Health Care System. The tower is expected to open in Summer 2013.

In Northeast Tarrant County, there has been an increase in population and health care needs—a trend that is projected to continue.
“The new patient tower and expansion will allow us to ensure we have the capacity of continue providing the most advanced care in the region,” said Doug Lawson, president of Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine. “This project is truly a testament to the hard work and dedication of employees, physicians, board members and our supportive community partners—working in concert to provide safe, quality, compassionate care.”
Baylor Grapevine experienced significant growth over the last year. It opened new Breast and Spine Centers as well as added a host of specialists to its growing medical staff. The hospital also added two operating rooms to its existing eight and renovated the outpatient waiting room and pre-operative area.
