Baylor Health Care System Foundation Reaches $500 Million Milestone

Fundraising success has ripple effect throughout the community

Thanks to generous donor support, Baylor Health Care System Foundation has reached an extraordinary milestone, raising more than $500,000,000 since its inception in 1978.

With an active annual donor base of individuals, foundations and corporate sponsors, the Foundation enjoys wide support from the Dallas philanthropic community. This remarkable achievement is highlighted by transformational gifts from many of the leading citizens in this region, including gifts of $20 million from the Sammons Family and the Men and Women of Sammons Enterprises, Inc.; $20 million from Annette C. and Harold C. Simmons;  $12.4 million from the Deerbrook Charitable Trust; and $10 million from T. Boone Pickens.

"The ripple effect from each of these gifts is immeasurable – the impact extends into individual lives, families and communities in numerous ways," said Rowland K. Robinson, Foundation president. "We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our donors and their commitment to advancing the mission that Baylor carries out for our community and beyond."

Investments by donors have had a wide-reaching impact on Baylor Health Care System's commitment to develop innovative models of care, use advanced medical technology and conduct game-changing research. Baylor also trains hundreds of physicians each year to care for future generations.

Since Baylor was founded 111 years ago, it has become a leader in health care, research and medical education. Even with a rich legacy of support, philanthropic gifts will continue to be needed as Baylor looks to transform the way health care is delivered in our community and meet the needs of a growing population.

"As you reflect on leading metropolises around the world, it is clear, that you can't have a truly great city without great health care," said Robinson. "The confidence, commitment and support of our community's leaders have helped place Baylor among the leaders of the best health systems in the world."
