Baylor Medical Center at Irving Names New President

Cindy Schamp has been named president of Baylor Medical Center at Irving. She will begin her new duties on July 1.

"We are pleased to welcome Cindy into the Baylor Health Care System family," says Joel Allison, president and chief executive officer, Baylor Health Care System. "Cindy's background and professional experiences make her an excellent fit at Baylor Irving."

Schamp comes to Baylor from the 250-bed Alle-Kiski Medical Center in Natrona Heights, Pa., an affiliate hospital in the West Penn-Alleghany Health System, where she served as president and chief executive officer. As president and CEO, Schamp successfully implemented an organizational redesign and efficiency plan, set goals to enhance quality initiatives and created organizational alignment with patient satisfaction goals. Under her leadership, Alle-Kiski received the 2006, 2007 and 2008 HealthGrades Distinguished Hospital – Clinical Excellence Award.

Prior to joining Alle-Kiski, Schamp served as chief operating officer and senior vice president of operations at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, from 1997 to 2002. She was chief executive officer, Intercommunity Health Network of Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, Ore., from 1993 to 1997 and concurrently served as vice president of professional services from 1988 to 1997.

"From the onset of meeting with the Baylor team, I felt a strong connection with the goals of the faith-based organization," said Cindy Schamp. "I was drawn to Baylor Irving because of its strong quality platform, local board commitment, sense of spirit and thriving community."

As an active community member, Schamp currently serves on the Allegheny Medical Practice Network (AMPN) board, the Lower Burrell Rotary, the Penn State University-New Kensington Branch advisory board, and the Strongland Chamber of Commerce board. She received her bachelor's degree in gerontology and business administration from the University of Oregon in 1985 and her master's degree in hospital and health care administration from the University of Iowa in 1987.
