New ACL Injury Prevention Program for Girls

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano is now offering an ACL Injury Prevention program for girls ages 13 and above. Recent research has shown that girls can be up to eight times more likely to tear their ACL than boys. This program is designed specifically for female athletes to help prevent ACL injuries and to enhance performance.

The program will be supervised by a licensed Physical Therapist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist at Baylor Plano. Sessions will be held two times per week, for six weeks. A typical session will include a warm-up, core strengthening, flexibility training, plyometrics, agility training, strength training, and speed training. In honor of the programs grand opening, the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department is offering twelve sessions at no cost to the first six people who call and sign up for the program.

"Recent research has proven that the risk of ACL injuries in female athletes can be reduced with a prevention program. We created the Baylor Plano ACL prevention program based on those significant findings. This program will help increase sport performance and reduce risk of ACL injury," says Daniel Evans, MS, PT, CSCS.
