The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano now a five-time Press Ganey Award® Winner

Hospital ranks above the 95th percentile in patient satisfaction

THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano is among an elite group receiving a Press Ganey™ Summit Award® in two categories for 2011, making the hospital a five-time winner of this prestigious award since the hospital’s opening in January 2007.

THE HEART HOSPITAL earned two Summit Awards for patient satisfaction in Inpatient Services and Emergency Department, ranking in the 95th percentile and above in both categories three consecutive years. The hospital is the only health care facility in Texas to receive a 2011 Summit Award for patient satisfaction in the Emergency Department, ranking in the 99th percentile for three consecutive years. Additionally, the hospital was one of only 37 Summit Award recipients for Inpatient Services out of more than 1,000 eligible health care organizations. This is the hospital’s third Summit Award received in Inpatient Services and the second Summit Award in the Emergency Department.

Press Ganey Associates, Inc. awards this annual honor to the country’s top performing health care facilities that sustain a ranking in the 95th percentile and above for overall patient satisfaction and performance for three or more consecutive years. The Summit Award is the health care performance improvement industry’s most coveted symbol of achievement bestowed annually.

"Patient-centered care and five-star service continue to be the foundation we build upon at THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano," says Mark Valentine, president, THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano. "Earning this top honor five times is a true testament to our health care professionals’ ongoing commitment to safe, quality, and compassionate care that began the day we opened our doors in 2007 and holds true today. "

The hospital is one of 98 organizations to receive this prestigious honor in 2011, and one of only 87 to receive the award for achieving and sustaining excellence in patient satisfaction.

In the face of significant growth, THE HEART HOSPITAL has maintained a high level of patient satisfaction and medical excellence, an accomplishment that merits recognition. In two years the hospital has undergone a $52 million dollar expansion project which provided additional advanced services, including a 50-bed ICU, a comprehensive research facility, new advanced MRI and recently expanded cardiac rehabilitation area.

Although construction created temporary obstacles in the care delivery process, the hospital’s commitment to providing safe, quality, and compassionate care did not waver. Additionally, in the emergency department (ED), the average door to physician time is less than six minutes, significantly less than the average 56 minutes to see a physician at other facilities. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the ED is able to reduce the time to treatment during the early stages of an emergent condition, such as a heart attack, and provide treatments when they are most effective.

"We are proud to work with THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano," says Press Ganey’s CEO Robert Draughon. "THE HEART HOSPITAL’s innovative approach to patient satisfaction helps to advance the quality of health care in North Texas."

Press Ganey, the health care industry’s leading performance improvement firm, works with more than 10,000 health care facilities worldwide including 50 % of all U.S. hospitals to measure and help improve clinical, operational and patient satisfaction outcomes.
