Heroes for Health: Baylor Carrollton Named ‘Business of the Year’

Hospital to be honored as ‘Best of the Metrocrest’

The Metrocrest area is healthy because of its community neighbor Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton, says the Metrocrest Chamber, as the hospital is named “Business of the Year” for 2011 by the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce.  Baylor Carrollton President and CEO Michael Sanborn, MS, FACHE, will accept the award Feb. 10 at the 43rd Annual Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet at the Doubletree Hotel in Farmers Branch.

“This award is a reflection of the outstanding work of our dedicated staff and talented physicians,” said Sanborn. “We are honored to receive such a prestigious award from the Metrocrest Chamber, and we are proud on a daily basis to serve the citizens of the Metrocrest area. It’s our honor and privilege to care for the health of those in this exemplary community.”

The Metrocrest Chamber’s 2011 Business of the Year award is sponsored by Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford of Carrollton.  The award is given annually to an outstanding business of the Addison, Carrollton, or Farmers Branch areas.

“It was an easy decision to name Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton our ‘Business of the Year,’” said Charles Heath, chairman of the Metrocrest Chamber. “The services and dedication the hospital provides to our community are unmatched.”

Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton offers services such as an efficient emergency department with wait times to see a physician less than 15 minutes, on average; a robust community outreach program that provides thousands of free screenings annually; a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery; and quality scores that rank the hospital among the best in the Baylor Healthcare System. Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton provided the Metrocrest area with more than $30 million in total community benefit last year.

The Business of the Year Award will be presented to Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton on Friday, Feb. 10 at the 43rd Annual Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet at the Doubletree Hotel at 4099 Valley View Lane. FOX 4’s Mike Doocy, a long-time Carrollton resident, will serve as master of ceremonies. Tickets are available by calling 469-587-0420. A reception begins at 6 p.m., with a dinner and awards ceremony to follow at 7 p.m.  The Metrocrest Chamber will also present awards for Citizen of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, and a new award for Rising Stars in the community.

The mission of the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce is to stimulate economic growth in Addison, Carrollton, Farmers Branch and surrounding areas by providing programs, resources, education and support that benefit business, government and citizens, resulting in a premier place to live and work. The Metrocrest Chamber offers numerous networking opportunities throughout the year that provide its members the opportunity to engage prospective customers and promote awareness of their organization.
