Texas Governor Rick Perry appointed Baylor President and CEO Joel Allison and 12 other members to the new Texas Institute of Health Care Quality and Efficiency Board of Directors this week.
The Institute is designed to improve health care quality, accountability, education and cost to the state by encouraging health care provider collaboration, effective health care delivery models and coordination of health care services. The other 12 board members include heads of other leading health care organizations across the state and include insurance executives, physicians and academicians.
“I’m honored to have this opportunity to serve the people of Texas,” says Allison. “The Institute is a good example of how Baylor can play a role in influencing health care reform and improve the quality of care while lowering health care costs.”
Mr. Allison is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American and Texas Hospital associations, Healthcare Leadership Council, and Texas Association of Voluntary Hospitals. He is board chair of the Healthcare Coalition of Texas and Dallas Citizens Council, and a board member of the Dallas Education Foundation, Alliance for Higher Education, and the Joint Commission. He served in the U.S. Marine Reserve. Allison received a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a master’s degree in health administration from Trinity University, and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
