Baylor Health Care System Announces New Chairman And Board Of Trustees

Board includes longtime North Texas community and business leaders

Baylor Health Care System is pleased to welcome Jim L. Turner as the new chairman of its Board of Trustees, effective July 1. For decades Turner has been a distinguished member of the North Texas business and civic community, including serving as a member of Baylor’s Board of Trustees for the past 17 years.

Turner was founder and owner of the largest privately owned bottling company in the U.S., Dr Pepper/Seven Up Bottling Group. He is also founder and CEO of JLT Beverages, LP, which manages beverage and other investments, and he is a member of the Texas Rangers Baseball Club ownership group.

“It’s an exciting but challenging time in health care,” said Turner. “I look forward to working with the entire Baylor leadership team on new and innovative ways to reach out and improve the health of North Texans.”

Mr. Turner's wife, Julie, is involved in numerous philanthropic causes in Dallas and the North Texas area.  The Turners have two daughters, Amy and Jenna, who are also active in the Dallas philanthropic community.

All members of Baylor Health Care System’s Board of Trustees are leaders in their fields who dedicate hundreds of hours to ensure that Baylor continues to fulfill its mission to serve all people through exemplary health care, education, research and community service.

“We are so fortunate to have such generous and talented people who are willing to give so much of themselves to Baylor and the communities that we serve,” says Joel Allison, president and CEO, Baylor Health Care System.  “Baylor is better for their efforts and so are our communities.”
