The American Society of Transplantation (AST) has awarded Dr. Jacqueline O'Leary with its Clinical Science Investigator Award.
Dr. O'Leary is a principal investigator on the medical staff at Baylor Research Institute. She is also the medical director of the Liver and Transplant Unit at the Baylor Annette C. and Harold C. Simmons Transplant Institute.
The annual award is given to only one U.S. clinical investigator who has made a substantial contribution to the field of transplantation medicine.
"This is very well deserved honor and I am very proud of Dr. O'Leary for her contributions to our industry and this prestigious accomplishment," said Dr. Goran Klintmalm, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.S., chief and chairman of the Simmons Transplant Institute.
Dr. O'Leary has made significant contributions to transplantation, most notably redefining the interest in humoral immunity in liver transplantation. She has over 40 original publications and has been the principal investigator in many key clinical trials in liver disease, viral hepatitis and liver transplantation.
