BioNorthTX to Host Inaugural Life Science Summit

Baylor Research employees join planning committee for first-ever North Texas event

The first BioNorthTX iC3 Life Science Summit will be Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Dallas Marriott Las Colinas in Irving. The Life Science Summit—an annual all-day event—is an industry-wide networking, education and business development conference for investors, researchers and life science companies. The Summit aims to showcase innovation, collaboration and commercialization efforts in North Texas.

Baylor Research Institute (BRI) is a founding member of BioNorthTX, which is an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(6) trade association that seeks to highlight the region's successes and assets in the life sciences, including academic research, organizations and available resources. One of the goals of the Summit is to bring together all parties involved in the industry and educate businesses at large about North Texas' potential to become a leader in bioscience innovation.

Sessions will include a breakfast opening plenary session, a lunch keynote and afternoon investment sessions, followed by a cocktail reception. Also included will be a North Texas company CEO panel, in which key opinion leaders will discuss their companies' operational strategies and successes, as well as a North Texas research organizations showcase.

This event follows the BioNorthTX and BRI Breakfast Forum that was held in late August. Two BRI employees are on the planning committee for the iC3 Life Sciences Summit: Jaime Walkowiak, vice president of clinical research operations, and Melissa Acosta, PhD, a patent liaison in the Intellectual Property Protection Office.
